[BUG] Energy conduits not connecting to Flux Networks' flux point/plug
Is there an existing issue for this?
- [X] I have searched the existing issues
Current Behavior
Ender IO energy conduits don't connect to Flux Networks' flux points/plugs
Expected Behavior
Ender IO energy conduits should connect to Flux Networks' flux points/plugs (screenshot from 1.12.2)
Steps To Reproduce
- Place flux point and plug and assign network
- Place conduit(s) and configure conduit input/output
- Place energy providers/consumers connected to conduits
(order doesn't matter. I've tested different variants of this list)
Environment
- OS: Windows 10
- Java version: OpenJDK 17.0.1
- Minecraft version: 1.20.1 with Forge 47.1.0
- Version: EnderIO-6.0.7-alpha-all; FluxNetworks-1.20.1-7.2.0.14
Anything else?
I'm not sure if this is an EnderIO issue or a Flux Networks issue, so I'll be reporting it to both places
My guess here is that it doesn't connect due to us not providing an energy cap to it? If that's the case it will be fixed in the future, but it's a bit complex. Doe the points work or not?
Doe the points work or not?
The points do work. As you can see in the screenshots (both current and old), I connected one directly to a capacitor bank in the bottom right of the screenshot to make sure they were working
Flux networks design is somewhat incompatible with the design of the new conduits, visual connection can be made fairly simple, activly pulling energy out of the flux plug isn't allowed by flux networks while pushing into energy conduit networks is disallowed by enderio by design, will need to evaluate a proper solution
The same problem appears with mekanism cables. When Mekanisms internal energy buffer of the power cables is full, the conduits work with the cables without a problem. But as soon as the mekanism cables are not full the energy conduits will stop working. It seems like there is an incompatibility as well. Maybe Mekanism uses the same design choice of only allowing energy to be pushed and not extracted from ?
Cable connectivity is not intended. I don't want that people build lines of different cables in alternate order. I'm already working on a fix for flux networks
Yeah, not being able to directly connect two different mods' cables isn't something I've seen anybody complain about before. Lol. It's not hard to put something in between as a buffer if you really need to switch cable types
Not connecting to Flux Networks though is a pretty big issue. Most people I know mostly just use one mod's cables and power banks, connected to the Flux Network
Not complaining about it, just wanted to provide some additional information because I thought the underlying problem could be the same as with Flux Networks.
Good to know the Flux Networks fix is in the works, eagerly awaiting the upcoming versions of EnderIO.
This also affects other mods such as Mekanism cables. EnderIO energy conduits "want" to connect to them, visibly doing so, but the cables do not react accordingly and the connection does not work. It also does not work with the energy cube. I had to use a vibrant capacitor bank.
Capacitor banks themselves also do not always behave well. Mekanism cables will connect to them but will not provide power except in DISABLED mode for the corresponding side. WEIRD!
Any updates about this issue? Flux points are able to connect to all other pipes excepth enderio. EnderIO pipes are the best pipes i have ever seen, they allow to make amasing automation design, except this issue.
Just retested - this behaviour is still present on the latest 1.20.1 version. Unable to test on 1.21 due to unavailability of flux networks, but given the changes made I'm fairly confident that will not be an issue.
It is possible that this issue can be resolved, but it completely depends if any of us finds the time to return and revistit this. Any community contributors are free to reach out to us in #contributing in our Discord if they're interested. If not, then hopefully I or another core team member will be able to look into this sometime.
