drop support for python 2

python 2 is eol, I think it should be cleaned up.

Not for a long time.

As of October 2021, macOS Monterey, the latest version of macOS, is still coming with Python 2 preinstalled but not Python 3.

It gives a warning that it’s EOL and that you need to move to Python 3, but until Apple EOLs all versions of macOS that include Python 2, I’ll definitely be keeping Python 2 support for this project.
