Making playing with real titles and names an official option in the Settings GUI
Definitely one of the most requested features, tech-savvy users can help themselves but it seems there are still a lot who have problems getting it right.
Often discussed before, but now @GWRon seemed to be more open about that in discord:
Alternativ kann es ja auch eine zentrale mapping datei geben.
Suffix_real=_original
Suffix_fake=
...dass dann ueberall konsequent genutzt und es gibt nur eine Umstellstelle Bzw automatisches Umstellen, wenn man den "originalnamen in deinem land nutzbar"-Dialog einbaut
The option can be in the main settings dialog. It won't have to be provided in-game.
If activated, it would mean:
For programmes, screenplay-scripts, persons and roles: read from the _original
tag if it exists instead from the normal one.
A ${.getlocale}
function for the new script expressions feature is planned (e.g. ${.getLocale:"boss_....":"de"}
), which could be used for other stuff and in-game labels and texts that would require spoofing (e.g. brand names, like BRAND_MICROSOFT = Macrohard
vs BRAND_MICROSOFT = Microsoft
). Here, the real and fake entries would probably go into different resource files (resp. different folders like misc
vs misc_original
or contents
vs contents_original
) (although the convention to synchronize all entries across all languages would not be adhered here, that would be too cumbersome, only the entries that differ in specific languages). The appendix _original
would have to be taken into account by this getlocale
function also.
