Document TTT2 convars online more

Open Guy-L opened this issue 1 month ago • 3 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Locating convars in the cvarlist to find what you're looking for is bothersome; it would be much more convenient for end-users to have online documentation of them available.

Describe the solution you'd like

List TTT2 convars (names, descriptions & defaults) in the addon's documentation site (https://docs.ttt2.neoxult.de/), the README, or the workshop page.

Describe alternatives you've considered

See above.

Additional context

As an example, I'm currently setting up a third-party hosted server to test my addon with, and I'm having a hard time locating how to lower the round start timer. On my local server, I could do this with the F1 menu, but I can't find this nearly as easily now (note that what I'm looking for may not be a TTT2 cvar, but if they were documented, I could confirm that much quicker).

This confuses me. It is still in the F1 menu. Are you not an admin on your server by chance?

The convars are documented online in our API Documentation: https://api-docs.ttt2.neoxult.de/

While yes that documentation is more suited towards devs, it does have everything you asked for — although many (most?) of the descriptions/helptexts are currently missing for some reason ... i need to look into that

Apologies, I somehow missed this. The issue can be closed. What I usually prefer is to have one page with all cvar names and descriptions listed which makes it very easy to Ctrl+F and find what you're looking for, but this is a massive addon and cvars may change often in development, so it's totally understandable if such a thing isn't feasible.

It was my first time setting up so I hadn't realized how to do this yet, but still, online documentation helps.
