Variable Length Motifs and Discords Discovery

There is the 2018 VALMOD paper and, later the 2020 MAD paper. VALMOD appears to be targeted towards motif discovery while MAD extends VALMOD and targets both Motif And Discord (i.e., "MAD") discovery

I am trying to go through the extended version of paper. I already finished the introduction part of Jupyter Notebook, which provides the gist of concept behind the paper. However, before pushing it, I wanted to get equation (2) myself to make sure it is correct. And, then I noticed there is a typo (I am 99.99% sure as I have been working on this the whole day) :

So, I applied the same typo in my calculation, and I got eq (2). Now, I am trying to solve it without typo.... I will soon push the notebook so you can see the solution...I think the concept of Lower-Bound distance profile is interesting... that is why I am trying to solve it after correcting the typo...
