Future Considerations For MelonDS Core
Just going to jot down features some people requested; currently placing these under either "not possible right now or possible with a lot of work" and all low priority
- [ ] Custom Microphone Samples (related https://github.com/TASEmulators/BizHawk/issues/2976)
- [x] DSi support
- [ ] LAN Linking (re: https://github.com/TASEmulators/BizHawk/pull/2997/#4106)
- [ ] Input Display (I guess someone to add support for DS in that input display lua #4141?)
- [ ] Homebrew support dldi thingie
I've heard melonds upstream I'd working on dldi support which is homebrew. So that would be cool.
Technically homebrew works, you just need some SD card image or something. And they said they're gonna make it work on the fly(whatever that means) like desmume does
The melonDS core in DSi mode currently can't save game progress as it seems to need the ability to modify the specified NAND file. Also, there is no "Manage DSi titles" option which allows DSiWare games to be playable by adding them to the NAND.
Currently there's some ability to read out the modified NAND within the core but it's not hooked up with firmware manager (nor frontend in general), so that should be fixed eventually.
DSiWare games get autoinjected into the NAND if you insert them in as a ROM. A whole manage DSi titles is probably not going to come just due to complexity with that, along with that needing the core deinit at that time so would need a massive hack to do that.
add the feature to load sd card directory/row drive image like melon ds do homebrew apps are referred to emulators which need to load files from sd card
