Relatively high cpu usage

Open s-k-y-l-i opened this issue 9 years ago • 4 comments

I have an i5 4690K and Messenger uses about 3-5% on idle when the window is shown. 3 cpu threads is used.

Idleing on messenger.com in chrome does not have cpu usage for example :)

The threads are normal, its the way NW.JS is designed. As for the CPU usage, its about the same here. I'm not quite sure if its a NW.JS related issue or a problem in the app (which would surprise me since it's only a simple wrapper)...

I think it would be great if we could debug what causes the unnecessary CPU cycles and excessive RAM usage. I also wonder why are there 4 processes for the app? Just before I took this screen grab, the 8352 process was taking 220MB RAM and I guess just before I took the grab some of the garbage got collected. CPU usage goes up to 7% on the same PID on an i7 4980HQ.

I'm up for getting with NW.JS and helping out the project as I use the Messenger on daily basis and find it a lot sleeker to be wrapped & themed in an app.

As say many times previously, this is only a wrapper based on NW.JS. If you find that it uses too much memory or cpu power, I suggest you head to their repo. The same thing happens with electron as far I know...

I reduced the CPU usage in the latest version, not perfect. This is the only issue about performances that I will keep open.
