JDownloader currently is GPL, but soon will change it's license to a different Open Source/Commercial Duallicense. http://beta.jdownloader.org/developmentquicktutorial

Building a package for such a tool does not make sense to me.

Simply follow instructions from https://support.jdownloader.org/Knowledgebase/Article/View/52/0/install-jdownloader-on-nas-and-embedded-devices It sounds quite short to do.

I'm inclined to agree here, it seems a little simple to add a package for it. If you'd really like a package creating, however, consider contributing it yourself or issuing a bounty for the project

Task list:

• wizard: request for "my.jdownloader" user account and password
• install: register a service account to run jdownloader JVM, create runtime directory and download latest launcher
• startup: if not configured yet, provide user account and password as command line option if possible or create an initial config file with them

Other ideas:

• timestamp as package version, as tool upgrades itself
• service account should be granted write access to a default "downloads" location
• then user moves downloaded files to expected target location
• nice-to-have: a backup/restore mechanism for tool configuration when uninstalling/reinstall
