im new to github, but ive downloaded all the assets, and ive tried extracting the files, ive even downloaded linux because im on a windows computer, but nothing happens. i need help

Probably your best bet is to install it via package manager of your linux distribution. You can take a look at this how-to, it assumes you have Ubuntu linux installed. https://itsfoss.com/cool-retro-term/
