Manually add ROM folder

Open Flashlab2 opened this issue 2 years ago • 17 comments

I have a Philips TV with Android TV 11. Since the upgrade to 11 Android uses Scoped Storage and SAF and is missing a file picker. The app mentions that you have to manually add the roms to folder within the app directory. This is difficult as storage on the device is limited. Therefore I'd like to use external storage but there's no way to point Lemuroid to the right folder any longer without a file picker.

Could we have an option where we can type the correct folder url in settings?

I can't access the data folder for Lemuroid where it asks me to put the ROMs.

How? The data folder where Lemuroid wants to have the files isn't accessible and there's no way to point Lemuroid to the location where the files are as the file picker is also not available.

Copy the game ROMs to a specific folder on your storage Add the storage to lemuroid directory and scan for some minutes

What for? Its very bad workaround =)). I can use retroarch. We're just trying to get the point that use lemuroid is impossible/broken with Android TV 11.

For reasons unknown, lemuroid doesn't work on some TV's except CRT

Same behavior on Google Chromecast 4K after upgrading to android 12 (it was working before)

Uninstalled/reinstalled. Permissions are ok.

But lemudroid is unable to get any folder.

When we open folder icon, it seems to try to open an unknown app :

Any idea what is the default folder used? With the filepicker issue on Android tv, this might be a good workaround to have one by default like /storage/emulated/0/Roms.

Also, any idea how to install Googles files app on Chromecast (or equivalent)? It looks like it's used as a filepicker.

As pointed above the chromecast with google TV 4k with andorid 12 has the same issue which basically makes Lemuroid unusable :(

Issue still persists. To be fair, it is not really the app devs fault but Google's for removing the Default File Picker and not allowing alternatives.

How does RetroArch can access internal storage and attached USBs? Lemuroid should have a thing like that (I'm dreaming)
