[Android TV] Game Boy Advance games are not opening

Open archerallstars opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Device:

  • Xiaomi Mi Box S / Mi Box 4
  • Ipega PG-9118

Android version:

  • Android TV 9, kernel 4.9.113

Lemuroid version: 1.8.1

Issue:

I can't open any of my Game Boy Advance's games on Lemuroid for Android TV as the game crashes even before the first screen. However, those games work fine with Lemuroid on my Android phone (Sony Xperia XZ2).

Hi @kreaninw . In version 1.9.0 I fixed an audio-related crash (which happened while launching games), are you still able to reproduce the issue?

If so, are you able to access the native crash dump so that I might try to infer where the problem lies?

Hi, thanks for the update.

After I updated the app to version 1.9.0, instead of just not able to open the game (the app would not crash in 1.8.1), the app crashes entirely after I tried to open the game.

I don't know where the native crash dump is located. In Android TV, when the app crashed, there's no popup to send a report. I tried to look at the Android > data > com.swordfish.lemuroid for any log file but I didn't find any. I believe the core behind Game Boy Advance is mGBA which I found the folder relating to it but it has nothing inside.

For information, in this Android TV box, I can play Game Boy Advance games just fine using RetroArch with mGBA core.

I am experiencing this issue too with gb, GBC and GBA. It happens on the mi box and my retroid pocket 2 with Android version 8.1.

The same bug occurs when trying to open gamegear games on Mi Box S.

I have the same problem on a P212 device (AMLogic S905X) running Android Nougat (7.1.2) when you open a gba game, the app crashes, I also sent the crash report when prompted by google so that could help debugging. I think is worth mentioning that other emulators do work such as myboy!

I am having the same problem on "Xiaomi Mi Box S / Mi Box 4" running latest Android version on that box. When I try to start a GBA game the screen goes dark and then you are suddenly back to the screen where you choose games.
