Information on Trakt integration
I think and hope this would be of helpful info for you. So i figured this out by accident bc I use the Trakt add-on with my library, it actually sometimes detects what im watching in Kaito and scrobbles it correctly to the show and marks as watched and stuff. Here are some of the conditions and what not I have noticed.
Absolute Order (single seasoning): Example: Naruto Shippuden So because Trakt uses seasoning for shows rather than how Japan just numbers every episode from 1 to say 900 like one piece in one season for longer running shows, the Trakt addon could scrobble and recognize early episodes of Naruto Shippuden. Where it diverges is Season 2 in Trakt, where Ep 1, is actually Ep 33 in Kaito and Japanese.
How you would address this I dont know as it is pretty tricky.
Seasonal Shows Example: Boku no Hero Academia, Attack on Titan. So while Japanese, Kaito, Anilist, MAL, etc. may recognize season 2 of boku no hero and attack on titan as seperate shows/entries. Trakt puts them all under one show going S1-S2, so on. When watching episodes in season 1 of my Hero or attack on titan, it scrobbled to Trakt, anything beyond Season 1 tho where they diverge and Season 2 of Boku no Hero is its own show to kaito, will not scrobble to Trakt.
I think this one may be a bit easier to address, I remember u had some context menu option of something like Season correction. if you integrated Trakt into Kaito I think something like this could be helpful, where u could make a new context menu like "Trakt season correction" where on a show like Boku no Hero Academia 2 you click it, and put in the Trakt ID for Season 2 of my hero academia on this show so while it doesnt change how Kaito works, it will just apply the trakt id on it so Trakt can recognize this is actually season 2 of the show you entered rather than its own show. It could also be a search, u search the show, brings up My Hero, click it, then click Season 2, so Trakt knows this show is actually S2 of my hero.
Single Season Short Shows Example: Death Note This one so far already works perfect as all the episodes line up perfectly with Trakt and would be the easiest to work with.
You can't solve this with Trakt (however I'm interested in finding out why Trakt is tracking Kaito.)
You should use "update Watchlist" in Kaito settings for this. I have the best result with using Anilist. (In this case, watchlist means what you are currently watching, not what you are planning to watch)
Season Correction is for correcting the Season that the Next Up episode displays , in case it's wrong (if I understand correctly).
Use mal, kitsu and anilist for Anime. Using Trakt Season Correction to get Trakt to register correctly is one thing, and could work. But then using Trakt to find an anime episode AND THEN playing it would require a reverse translation... Not very productive.

Iām fine without trakt atm, though on Reddit dev did say trakt was something on his list of things to do so I was just giving my findings in hope of helping out if at all

Trakt works with kaito because kaito is technically a Seren fork. The trakt addon has the ability to scrobble off other plugins, Seren being one of these compatible addons Hummingbird is a other fork of Seren, and the trakt addon is also able to scrobble off it.
