Script doesn't work in ubuntu 12.04

after installing hal and having the script execute,

i run ./usblock -a

i get:

Insert the device that you want to register...

which does not respond to devices being added

Can you let me know if you have tried different devices on different USB ports? I have some issues myself with certain devices when plugging them into a HUB or a USB port on the keyboard.
