Shortcut to enter "Tile Mode" and "Object Mode"

Open Rusty-Box opened this issue 1 year ago • 6 comments

Plain and simple. Add a shortcut that switches between "Tile Mode" and "Object Mode" so you don't have to manually select a tile or Object category to swap between each. This makes switching a bit more convenient imo.

There should also probably be some kind of text telling you what mode is currently active (similar to the "Autotile Mode" text next to the Undo-Redo buttons

The mode can be indicated with the icon of the cursor. Do you think the text is still necessary?

Would pressing Tab conflict with anything?

Hi! I'd like to be assigned to this issue if possible.

In addition to the shortcut for switching between the Tiles and Objects menus, I think it would be helpful to explore a few other UX improvements:

  • Add a search bar: This could allow users to quickly find specific tiles and objects, especially as the number of items grows.
  • Additional shortcuts for submenu navigation: Introducing shortcuts to switch between submenus (e.g., within the Tiles or Objects sections) could further streamline the workflow and make navigation more efficient.

Let me know what you think!

The shortcuts for submenu navigation would be certainly useful. I'm not sure about the search bar, as there aren't that many tilegroups yet. What could be useful though, if there were some kind of named bookmarks or collapsable subgroups in the tilegroups. And then the search tool would be helpful.

PS: This is how I imagine the tile subgroups.
