can NOT reproduce results in example

We could not reproduce the affine registration results shown on https://simpleelastix.readthedocs.io/AffineRegistration.html

The result image looks quite different from the result image on that page.

Could you please help to clarify? Thanks. affine_result

Can you post the code you used to obtain you result? The image above looks like the moving image, not the result image.

The salt noise may be an artifact of converting between types but it is difficult to say to without seeing the code.

Can you post the elastix log? Use elastixImageFilter.LogToConsole() to generate the log.

The salt noise is indeed an artifact of casting the float image to an unsigned int image. You can use sitk.RescaleIntensity() to remove this artifact.

It is difficult to grasp the quality of the registration from these. You can use sitk.CheckerBoard(fixedImage, resultImage) to get a better idea. Post the output checkerboard image here and we can look at the results together.

To me that looks like a successful registration. Can you elaborate why this is not a good result?

It is not as good as (has obvious rotation in result image) the one shown in your example: https://github.com/SuperElastix/SimpleElastix/blob/develop/Documentation/Sphinx/AffineRegistration.rst

Could you please use these 2 PNG images (from your example) to do a registration on your side, and post your result image? I am afraid I did something wrong. Thanks!

Mhm, I do agree that the registration is result is not as good as it could have been. Maybe you can increase the NumberOfSpatialSamples or MaximumNumberOfIterations.

With all due respect I don't have time to run registrations myself at the moment.

Can you post the elastix log? Use elastixImageFilter.LogToConsole() to generate the log.

The salt noise is indeed an artifact of casting the float image to an unsigned int image. You can use sitk.RescaleIntensity() to remove this artifact.

It is difficult to grasp the quality of the registration from these. You can use sitk.CheckerBoard(fixedImage, resultImage) to get a better idea. Post the output checkerboard image here and we can look at the results together.
