Repos for deb and rpm collectors

Losing the self-updater functionality from the installed legacy collectors presents my organization with some challenges. Would it be possible to build .deb and .rpm packages and publish them in repos we could add to our apt and yum lists?

To go into a little depth... Pushing the binaries through our management systems is certainly possible, but it would be really nice to track and manage collector packages and changes to them via the same mechanisms our other software uses.

Hey Marc, the installation script can actually update your OTC instance to the latest version:

$ ./sumologic-otel-collector/scripts/install.sh

That being said we recognise the need for native yum or apt support and plan to work on those in the future.
