Often loses position when rotate portrait/landscape

Open JohnVeness opened this issue 10 years ago • 6 comments

I usually use the app in landscape orientation. If I rotate to portrait, often it will lose the current page, usually moving to the last page.

Sony Xperia Pro, Android 2.3.4, Document Viewer 2.5

To me, it doesn't move to the last page, but some random page.

Probably related to #43

Can you give step by step instructions on how to reproduce this?

Unfortunately I'm not able to replicate it at will - it sometimes happens and sometimes does not. I'll see if I can narrow down the circumstances when it does happen.

Since opening this ticket I have changed phones (now Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, Android 6.0.1, Document Viewer 2.7.8) but it's still happening. I cannot always force it to happen, but it will usually happen eventually with enough scrolling and rotating.

I have managed to capture a screen recording, see below. You'll notice that as well as sometimes going to the last page, it also sometimes goes full black or full white. When it does that, sometimes pinching will bring the document contents back visible.

Thanks for the update. I haven't had any luck reproducing yet (Nvidia Shield tablet, Android 6.0.1) when trying lots of rotation and scrolling.

The part where the page turns solid white sounds like https://github.com/SufficientlySecure/document-viewer/issues/161 - which I can still reproduce. That sounds like an activity lifecycle bug, so possibly fixing that will fix this issue.
