Provide smooth transition from normal view to full screen view

In version 2.8.1, the transition from normal view to full screen view (and vice versa) is quite disruptive. As shown in the image below, this transition seems to push down the document view from state (1) to state (2). Instead the navigation bar should probably be eased-in/eased-out on top of the document and not alongside it.

Tbh, I prefer the faster transition than the smooth animations that have become popular in many UIs.
