Suggestion: Gear Indicator

Hey hey, I’d like to propose an idea for a new feature. I think everyone knows what a Shift Light is. Most modern motorcycles and sporty cars will tell you when to shift up by flashing a light or changing color on the rev counter. My idea would be to implement a new “Gear Indicator”-Meter that tells you what chainring you should be using right now. Basically, a simple indicator that shows a digit while pedaling: 1, 2, 3 (or however many chainrings might be available) to keep your chain as straight as possible at any time. To clarify: My bike has an old 3x10 drive train, with 42-32-24 chainrings and 11-36 sprockets in the back. Since all parts on my bike are rather old Shimano parts and keep getting more and more expensive to replace every year, i’d like to cause as little wear on them as possible. But often times I’m just too lazy or simply forget to shift causing unnecessary wear on my drive train.

Now my idea would be to tell Urban Biker how many chainrings my bike has and what the thresholds (of gear ratio) for shifting should be.

To elaborate: I highlighted the sprockets that I can use with every chainring to produce the least possible wear in green.

So there could be an option in each bike profile like: Show “3” for gear ratio: x > 1,8 Show “2” for gear ratio: 2,2 > x > 1,2 Show “1” for gear ratio: x < 1,1

Since Urban biker knows my gear ratio at any time through my speed and cadence sensors, this feature should be as simple to implement as adding a few variables to my bike profile and then comparing them to my current gear ratio while riding.

I'm well aware that i might be the only one asking for that feature but i think it wouldn't be that hard to implement and it certainly wouln't hurt anybody.
