Voice notes skill

Open phirsch opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

It would be great if there was a skill to record (short-ish) audio/voice notes, particularly if this could happen without touching the phone st all (i.e. after activating by wake-word and/or through headset). It could also be useful to replay all or the last n recordings. Of course, STT on the notes would be helpful, too, but to guard against recognition errors, the audio should be saved anyway.

Ideas for figuring out when to stop the recording:

  1. configurable pre-set duration (somewhat inflexible)
  2. (configurable) period of silence (could be problematic in noisy environments)
  3. triggering Dicio again
  4. stop-word detection

Also, it could be helpful to (offer to) periodically emit a tone (through headset?) or vibration signal to the notify user that a recording is still in progress (which could happen if started hands-free).

I'm not going to lie, conspicuous lack of "take notes <until I say stop>" feature has stumped me here. This seems like the second thing I'd implement after "set up a timer" ;).

Sadly, I don't know anything about Android development so I cannot help differently than testing in languages I know after someone makes it happen.

Hand free control of joplin voice notes would be very useful. This privacy preserving open source note-taking app would also provide nice sync, post-process, search, and publishing features.
