Support Strapi v5

Open mariomurrent-softwaresolutions opened this issue 1 year ago β€’ 13 comments

Are there any plans to support Strapi v5?

For the time being, this is not planned. I mainly maintain the project on my free time which I don't have that much :D

Okay :)

@mariomurrent-softwaresolutions I created this PR for v5 updates https://github.com/Stun3R/strapi-sdk-js/pull/203

@mariomurrent-softwaresolutions I created this PR for v5 updates https://github.com/Stun3R/strapi-sdk-js/pull/203

Thanks for the contribution!

I will give a look in the following week and attempt to merge it + update/publish a new doc for it

Thanks for letting me know @XanderD99. By the way not sure if you guys know but the Strapi steam is building a new SDK and it will support autogeneration of types soon. It's on their roadmap. Look here https://github.com/strapi/sdk-js/issues/45#issuecomment-2639170670.

Sorry again for the delay, I have had personal issues during the holidays and high work priorities for the beginning of this year. It will definitely go out this week

Well, I just noticed that the Strapi team released the v1 of their SDK (@strapi/client). I think it would be better for you to migrate your usage to this new package as it will be closer to Strapi and evolve in a nice way.

I will probably merge and release the v5 work done by @XanderD99 but don't really know if it will be that useful as the SDK from strapi will do the job. Don't hesitate to tell me if you really need it πŸ‘ΌπŸΌ

Until they have full type support for their params and such I think it is still very useful to update this SDK. Also for the people still on v4 this SDK is the best option since I don't think Strapi is going to support that in theirs.

I'm lending towards the official Strapi package for data fetching, especially for typesafe querying. But I also agree with @XanderD99 that this package is still gonna be useful for some people using older versions of Strapi.

jgb-solutions avatar Feb 19 '25 21:02 jgb-solutions

@jgb-solutions Obviously I'm not considering unpublishing everything so older version will still be there. I will update to the v5 so we can use it πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Later, it could go in maintenance mode so I will only take care of VLN & bug fixing πŸ‘ΌπŸΌ

Sounds good to me @Stun3R

jgb-solutions avatar Feb 19 '25 22:02 jgb-solutions

I published a new patch for the v2.3 (which support Strapi v4). I also merged the PR from @XanderD99 in order to aim a publish by the end of the week πŸ‘ΌπŸΌ

Thanks for your contributions and also sorry for the delay...

PS: the SDK v2 documentation will be updated to https://v2-strapi-sdk-js.netlify.app in order to keep the main domain for the v3 documentation that will support Strapi v5.

Hey all πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

The Strapi SDK v3 has been released and supports Strapi v5 πŸŽ‰

  • The documentation has been updated accordingly: https://strapi-sdk-js.netlify.app/
  • You can still access to the SDK v2 documentation: https://v2-strapi-sdk-js.netlify.app/
