Feature Request "Screw Togetether" baseplate: Smaller holes for threads.

Open euphi opened this issue 11 months ago • 2 comments

There should be an option that the screw holes on two sides (one x, one y) of the "Screw Togetether" baseplate" have smaller diameter than the other. Default should be 3.2mm and 2.6mm.

This way it is possible to cut a thread into the holes and save space and mounting time. (Space: You can reduce the base thickness from 6.4mm to 5.4mm (maybe even less), because there is no M3 nut that would need some vertical space.

Ideally, there should also be a small marker on the threaded sides.

My workaround for now: Create two different type of baseplates: One with all 3.2mm, one with all 2.6mm. Disadvantage is that with this way you have two different types of baseplate.

Thanks for the good suggestion. I will add this when I get a chance; it might not be for a while.

One possible way of implementing that would be to have 2 screw holes per unit side (for example, single bin base would have 8 holes). That way you always have a 3.2mm hole facing a 2.6mm hole.

An added benefit of having 2 holes is the grid is more stable when picking it up.
