Is there any developer documentation available that describes filesystem architecture and components?

I it exists, I was not able to find it. But I think the manual is a kind of a base and the source is documented (with configuration for doxygen) and there are 2 partly non-english documents (which I cannot judge because I cannot understand e.g. italian) that could be starting point to create a kind of developer/component description:
