stuck inputs whenever rumble is meant to happen

i've setup delfinovin as indicated, with a third-party GCN->Switch adapter in Switch mode, all inputs work perfectly fine, however whenever rumble is meant to be activated for the controller, inputs get locked up for a few seconds and no rumble happens. i have both USB leads plugged in for current and no hardware disconnect/reconnect happens.
