[Bug]: UI and video playback lag and stutter if the display's resolution is set to 4K

Stremio Platform

Desktop App (Windows)

Describe the bug

Stremio client UI and video playback lag and stutter if the display's resolution is set to 4K. I tried lowering it to 2K and it got a bit better, while it did not seem to lag if set at 1080p. I tried disabling hardware decoding but the client became basically unusable. The issue gets worse if playing 4K content, but it's present at any resolution of the content played.

I am running Intel UHD Graphics updated to the latest driver on a Intel Core i7-10510U.

I am not encountering any issues while displaying 4K HDR content on VLC or any other players, nor in the browser (i.e. YouTube).

To Reproduce

  1. Run Stremio Windows client on 4K display

Expected behavior

UI should not freeze

Try using latest stremio 5 version.

I tried version 5.0.0-beta.17, the UI is very smooth, however video playback is still laggy for content above 1080p.

Beta works better, the UI is usable at least. 4k video playback is better but still unwatchable, but at least beta allows me to open in VLC.
