An extreme error in OpenVPN (stunnel) Connection Instruction for Linux

Open bowes332frank opened this issue 4 years ago • 0 comments

Expected behaviour:

OpenVPN (stunnel) is able to connect Google and other GFW banned network.

Actual Behaviour:

After follow the guide from Gateway server , OpenVPN (stunnel) cannot connect Google. For the guide has a missed step.

Solution:

Another Guide from "https://steamforge.net/wiki/index.php/How_to_configure_OpenVPN_to_resolve_local_DNS_%26_hostnames" have complete steps following that:

  • Install the resolvconf package to give your OpenVPN client the ability to rebuild the resolv.conf file when you start and stop your VPN connection

  • sudo apt install resolvconf

And that is what we need to add before this part from OpenVPN (stunnel) Connection Instruction for Linux:

  • You can ensure that the correct DNS servers are used by adding the following lines to the top of the 80.251.210.229-stunnel.ovpn file:

  • script-security 2

  • up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf

  • down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf

Additional Details:

Log output from Ansible or other relevant services (link to Gist for longer output):

*Target Cloud Provider:BandWagon Host
*Operating System of target host:Ubuntu 18.04 Server
*Operating System of client:*Ubuntu 19.10 Client 64-bit
