I've been speaking with several other mappers and we believe at least two functions of this would be extremely useful to have.
- something that is nearly identical to a typical overlay, but the texture could be automatically cropped to the closest fitting rect.
- There should also be something similar, but it should not have a defined area, and instead be applied to and fill selected brush faces , this could be useful for adding subtle edge variation, semi-procedural grunge layers, and so on to surfaces without having to create and manually stretch and rotate a great number of overlays for each face.
