Hmm, I've been mapping these kind of roofs as hipped all the time and expecting renderers to (magically) know that if the building is joined with another, it would be gabled towards that building and only hipped towards the edges that are not neighbouring to any similar building. Maybe that is too much to ask.

More roofs with 'hipped' on it just mapped plus a round building with conical roof

Left 6 floor building is hipped, along The middle 3 floor building is equal_hipped, kind of an hipped with side_hipped combo The 1 level on right a lowish coned roof with roof:height spec of 1m.
