The Problem

Hello, ocr a pdf consisting purely of scanned images (language: german, english) will no longer work in frooodle/s-pdf:latest on docker desktop or win11 command line. Error reads: remote call not defined. Also I am sorry you removed the option for storing & inspecting a separate text file for the ocr result.

Hello @herbbetz! 👋 I'm here to help you tackle those pesky bugs, answer your questions, and even guide you on your journey to becoming a contributor. While you're waiting for a human maintainer, feel free to share more about your issue! 🚀

The 'remote call not defined' error in Stirling-PDF can be caused by two main issues:

  1. The environment variable INSTALL_BOOK_AND_ADVANCED_HTML_OPS=false is no longer supported and should be removed from the Docker configuration.
  2. Browser cache issues, which can be resolved by performing a hard reload and clearing the cache in the browser [1].

Regarding the removal of the option to store and inspect a separate text file for the OCR result, I couldn't find specific documentation or release notes mentioning this change. It might be worth checking the latest updates or discussions in the repository for more details.

Hi @herbbetz wurde die UI angepasst? Wenn nein, dann bitte noch einmal prüfen, ob es sich wirklich um die 0.46 handelt.

Normally caused by a cache issue, i recommend refreshing your browser cache

Thanks for all your proposals. There seem to be some errors possible with installation: downloaded on 5.5.2025 from https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF

"docker build -t betzstirling:latest ." in d:\Stirling-pdf-main -> COPY build/libs/*.jar app.jar, failed to solve: lstat /build/libs: no such file or directory

https://www.stirlingpdf.com/downloads -> Win-version not containing OCR-PDF, https://docs.stirlingpdf.com/Installation/Docker%20Install/ , docker (desktop): docker pull stirlingtools/stirling-pdf -> nothing shows on localhost:8080 despite announcement on docker commandline

only the following docker-compose.yml is now working, if the volumes are prepared accordingly (in WSL on Win11):

version: '3.3' services: stirling-pdf: image: frooodle/s-pdf:latest ports: - '8080:8080' volumes: - /mnt/d/stirling-pdf/trainingData:/usr/share/tesseract-ocr/4.00/tessdata #Required for extra OCR languages - /mnt/d/stirling-pdf/extraConfigs:/configs - /mnt/d/stirling-pdf/customFiles:/customFiles/ environment: - DOCKER_ENABLE_SECURITY=false
