[Bug]: PDF-A converts highlights without opacity

Open b-v-d-e-v opened this issue 9 months ago • 4 comments

Installation Method

Docker fat

The Problem

We are trying to convert PDF documents with highlighted words/sentences to PDF-A. During this process the highlighting looses the opacity and the text is not readable anymore.

Original: Image

PDF-A Result: Image

Additionally the index seems to be wrong: the last charakter is not covered.

Converting to image (PNG) is working as expected.

Hi, I’m interested in contributing to this issue and have been able to reproduce the problem. Before diving into a fix, I’d like to know whether this is an internal bug within Stirling PDF or if it's caused by a third-party library used for PDF/A conversion.

We currently use libreoffice for pdf/a conversion

@tomasbernardino you are right! (if my manual test using the GUI is valid)

LibreOffice is opening the document like: Image

And that's how the pdf-a looks alike. When I do the highlighting within libreoffice everything is fine after the export too.
