Text width bug in Nushi Tsuri Adventure: Kite no Bouken English translation
I understand that bugs with fan translations are probably a lesser concern than with unmodified commercial software, so here's something to put on the back burner.
The bug is known on other emulators, like VBA, Gambatte and BGB (when set to run accurately), and is summarized by the hacker JaytheHam in the readme as follows:
The asm I wrote to double the number of characters per line doesn't seem to work on some emulators(E.g. Visual Boy Advance), use a better emulator like NO$GMB or BGB if you notice the text overlapping itself.
However, when running on actual hardware, the bug does not appear, as attested to in the final post of the release thread.
In emulation, support is spotty: it works in BGB (ironically, only after disabling "Options > Exceptions > emulate locked ram (as in reality)"), NO$ seems to run it correctly, and oddly enough, so does Lameboy. However, I'd much rather play in GameYob if at all possible. Unfortunately, it seems that all the open source emulators get it wrong, so I can't point to any working implementation.
The translation patch can be downloaded either from RHDN or JaytheHam.com.
