General question regarding patternize scope
Hello again Steven,
Wanted to know, I'm performing a pattern-based analysis on Hummingbirds' gorgets. I want to see if there's variation on the gorget pattern across populations located at different geographic areas. Is there a way to include populations (as a categoric variable maybe) in the PCA analysis to check for any association between color and geography?
Thanks! All my best
Hi Filipe,
First thing that come to mind are
MANOVA (which you can perform on the pixel matrices): https://www.reneshbedre.com/blog/manova.html
Mantel test to correlate patterns with (autocorrelated) spatial distances: https://www.rdocumentation.org/packages/ape/versions/5.6-2/topics/mantel.test
Hope this helps.
Best,
Steven

Thanks Steven! I think that should work
