astro calc: object visibility across time (new tab or RTS tab)

Open axd1967 opened this issue 8 months ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I'd like to have an overview of when a selected object (and specifically a comet) is visible throughout time at a given location.

Describe the solution you'd like

A time/time diagram could represent this.

  • X-axis is the time of day; preferably centred on midnight; number of columns is limited by screen resolution and user selected time step
  • one row per day (down=increasing date)
  • cells (or pixels) are colour coded (black=invisible; white=visible; shades of grey could mean altitude above the horizon) (with additional color codings for daylight and the different twilights).

This is related to the data shown in the RTS tab

An alternative is to color-code the existing RTS tab: assign a background color to the R/T/S cells so that it becomes apparent which R/S events occur before/after SR/SS.

To digress: the RTS table could highlight the min/max altitude values.
