Excessive battery usage

Web version on Mac in Safari browser uses excessive amount of battery. Fan comes on and stays on all the time and Safari also displays message on tab - "this tab is consuming a lot of battery".

Perhaps it is not Mac/Safari-specific, I also have a "fan on continuously" experience with Firefox on Windows.

What do you expect? Astronomical and graphics applications need to compute a lot. Display a static PDF for less power consumption.

Apparently, the expectation is that the behavior would be like in desktop Stellarium: reduce frame rate when not interacting with the user.

I noticed that Stellarium moves objects, as if in a live simulation. If that is what incurs the cost, maybe a solution would be to add a "pause/resume" button to the toolbar?

My use case is to settle on a particular region of the sky and read about the stars I see, note their positions relative to other stars, etc.

Or maybe just add a switchable battery mode or energy efficient mode where it disables or reduces all high energy consuming processes.
