Load images on new MacBook Pro

Hello! I have tried and failed to load images on my brand new MacBook Pro. M1 chip. Graxpert installs fine, but when I press the load image button I just get the continual spinning rainbow wheel and never get to a file. I have tried many older versions, all of them act the same. I am using the latest Mac OS 14.1. BTW Graxpert works fine on my PC. Is this a known issue?
