When logged in and texting, maybe the server should not email-notify the texter

Open schuyler1d opened this issue 8 years ago • 8 comments

Options for implementation:

  1. a way to opt-out of emails for a specific texter
  2. if the texter has used the interface within X seconds, then don't notify (possibly tricky, but would be cool)

For option option 1, we'd need a texter UI for opting out. @arena any thoughts on this one? I put it under the label A-notifications because I'm collecting issues about email and in app notifications together to form a group of work

@schuyler1d Questions/requests:

  1. who is the "they" in the title of this issue?
  2. would you be willing to reformat in the Problem, Solution, + Context format?

I think this is about getting email notification about assignments??

lol, I changed it -- sometimes 'use case' language can reduce clarity rather than the reverse. Hope this is clearer.

I think this would just be a standard "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email, right? I'm sure that's easier said than done depending on the deploy.

I would reformat this. I would also break it into two feature requests with these two problem statements:

Problem (1) Texters complain about getting too many email notifications about new assignments and have no way to unsubscribe.

Problem (2) Texters find themselves confused if they were actively using Spoke when a new assignment notification email was sent.

Solution (1) Add an "Unsubscribe" link to the bottom of the notification emails that unsubscribes that user from all future new assignment notification emails (or takes them to a notifications management screen if one exists).

...etc
