Auto-Layout can be confusing

Check out this workflow - with auto-layout it's pretty tough to follow. How can we make this easier to understand? I recognize that we can't always make this pretty when doing it automatically.

Some of the overlapping lines here don't help, because it's unclear what path a transition is taking, unless you click on it.

How can we improve default auto-layout?

Additional notes:

  • Curved arrows take odd paths sometimes
  • Curved arrows overlap too much and obfuscate where they are going
  • Default of a single color regardless of ‘success’, ‘error’, ‘complete’. Related Auto layout actually stacked two actions overtop of each other (Screenshot attached) Affected by window resolution and level of zoom Larger / zoomed out = no stacking

I've some thoughts, but this will be post 3.0 IMO. Do you agree?

Yes, post-3.0. I think there’s limits to what we can do here
