Updating a plugin bundle

I'm developing a plugin bundle within another application and I'm wondering how to handle updating the plugin separately from the main application that is running it. I tried integrating Squirrel.Mac in the plugin but it gives me the following error: Could not locate update bundle for main application bundle identifier. So the updater is using the main app bundle identifier instead of the plugin bundle bundle identifier when receiving a zipped update bundle. Could Squirrel.Mac handle this use case?
