Can't update application which is located outside of Applications folder

Open vojtatranta opened this issue 7 years ago • 2 comments

I have very strange problem

If I run app from outside of Applications folder auto update fails right after check for update is called

Could not locate update bundle for com.madebysource.avocode within file:///Users/vojtatranta/Library/Caches/com.madebysource.avocode.ShipIt/update.fTJySpa/

But if I move the app to Applications folder everything works.

Not only that, if I run the app directly from binary via command line the update works OK.

Has anyone encountered something similar?

EDIT: I would love to provide some better feedback on this but I don't know how to get some debug logs or debug mode, hint would be great, thanks.

When you download your app and you try launching it in the same folder the application is sandboxed. The user must move the app first in another folder, like the application folder
