application launches in the backgroud and is not visible

Hello,

On Raspbian 9.8 I tried launching Chromium but even though Chromium starts (I can see it in running processes) I cannot see it. If I exit Kodi, then I see Chromium.

I think somehow Kodi stays on top and doesnt let Chromius show up.

I tried running Kodi with the following methods but none gave me the expected result:

  1. startx /bin/kodi
  2. using lightdm
  3. through openbox
  4. through LXDE

When a game has a thumbnail, a fanart and a description the thumbnail isn't displayed, instead the fanart is shown there too.
