Letting go does not cancel the fly navigation
I have this running on two machines. For one of them it works absolutely amazing, and a big thanks for creating this. On my second computer however, whenever I let go of right click to cancel my navigation my mouse cursor appears and goes back into the navigation mode. Any idea why this is happening?
Can you give more details on the two machines?
e.g. Machine 1:
- Win/Linux/Mac
- Blender Version
- Addon version etc.
This sounds like a recurring bug that I keep thinking I've squashed.
Ive had this a few times when updating blender versions (and clicking migrate). I just have to clean up a few of the old keymaps and reinstall addon. For Blender 4.2 I just copied all the app data files and that worked fine. This might help with other people if too late for OG post.
Just had this issue whilst upgrading to 4.3 - tried removing the plugin, and then the right mouse button became completely non-functional anywhere in the window view, and didn't start working even after restoring the old keymaps, making the application impossible to use. After half an hour of trying to find the right setting I had to nuke everything, including settings, and reinstall.
Hi @EdBoucher, thanks for the report, that sounds like quite a serious issue!
A few notes before starting (that you might already know):
- RightMouseNavigation works in the 3D Viewport only
- Blender essentially rebuilds itself every startup so quitting and restarting can resolve a lot of bugs
- if you uninstall the addon, restore default keymaps and preferences and restart it should give the same results as 'nuking everything' and re-installing
I have some questions that might help me troubleshoot, as I haven't encountered that bug during clean installs or upgrades between Blender 4.2 > 4.4 (alphas):
- What OS are you using?
- What version of RightMouseNavigation?
- Did you ever have RightMouseNavigation installed as an Addon or was it only ever an Extension? (There was an issue with keymaps in the Addon version that was patched when it became an Extension, but could still cause issues if you initially installed it as an Addon)
- When you say 'upgrading' - do you mean via Package Manager, or download from blender.org? Did you use the 'Import Settings from 4.2' option?
- What other Addons/Extensions do you have active, and do any of them have conflicting bindings? (HardOps is an example of an addon that has issues with RightMouseNavigation as both are trying to register things to Right Mouse during startup)
- Did you restart Blender during your troubleshooting?
- Were there any Error messages in the console?
- Can you reproduce the issue? If so, can you upload a copy of your
userpref.blendand keymap files?
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience!
Closing the issue for now, if it recurs, or if anyone has updated info I can reopen it.
