New Features in SpecFlow+LivingDoc using SpecFlow+LivingDoc Generator

Open ankitbansal-dev opened this issue 4 years ago • 9 comments

Hi team,

First of all I would like to congratulate team for the new Plugin i.e. SpecFlow+LivingDoc Generator This report will help us to view complete Feature Test bed with all feature file at one place without any tool like Visual Studio or Azure DevOps.

Currently we have two different features in SpecFlow+

  1. Runner
  2. LivingDoc

With introduction of this new plugin, we try to encapsulate few features of Runner like execution result. But that seems incomplete in many terms. As per current latest report generated using this plugin a. Execution result count at feature file level, but I think it will be more helpful to include the count at scenario level. b. Also, most of the execution report includes error message or exception raised in case of failed which i think this report lacks behind. This will give us more clarity if I talk in terms of execution report.

Thanks for the nice words. I will forward them to the rest of the team.

For point a, could you post a screenshot or some mockup what you mean? I am not sure where you want to have a count displayed.

About point b: Thanks for the feedback. We are currently thinking if we want to add the messages to the output and if, where we display them.

Thanks for the screenshot. That helps better to understand it.

One image says more than 1000 words.

For me, the "feature level" is the level, where we display the titles of the feature files. The "scenario level" for me would be one level deeper (which is not visible in the screenshot).

Currently, we display the numbers only on folders, which are filesystem folders.

Hi @SabotageAndi,

I have recently raised similar feature request in SpecFlow community page - [SpecFlow+LivingDoc] Display test results per scenario CC: @mariostnr

I think we changed the counting to scenarios from features => closing this issue

Hi @SabotageAndi, Could you share the link to the change? Latest marketplace SpecFlow+LivingDoc plugin version still counts on the scenario level (and has been updated on 9/10/2021).

Looks like I was wrong. We never changed it. I need to check with the team, when this is planned.

Hi @SabotageAndi, any updates on this? Is the source code on github, so we can raise a PR for the change? Are there any ways to extend functionality?

There is no way to extend this in SpecFlow+ LivingDoc. Is is closed source.

Also I don't work for Tricentis and so on SpecFlow anymore, so I can't help here anymore. Sorry.
