Make active item flush with siblings in databrowser

Open jeff-zucker opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

I have long had a personal problem with the indentation of the active item. Today I had a confusion in the forum over it and another user said they have the same issue. So in the image below, where is "New Directory" located? My initial thought was inside inbox. But no, it is a sibling of inbox, not a child. Would there be any objection to making active resources flush left with their siblings? image

I mean the title and icon-row of the active resource. The resource's contents should be indented.

Indentation in the data browser has meaning. Assigning it both the meaning "a different level of hierarchy" and the meaning "this is an opened resource" is wrong.

Could it be just related to the character size ? In that case it's not an indentation problem.

It is a visual indentation problem. It looks indented and is very confusing. It causes me to lose trust that I can count on white space on the left meaning what I think it means and to misclick repeatedly when trying to close things. We may need to adjust font-size or padding or other styles to fix this, but, in my opinion it needs fixing. Do others agree?
