This also fixes #607. But to prevent the test runner from freaking out about the button detaching right away, it needed to persist alongside the spinner. But it makes the styling a little goofy.

@mglaman the mouse isn't showing the Edit button as clickable now. I would take a screenshot but I can't get the cursor in it.
