keyboard shortcuts to expand/collapse selected node

With a node selected, I expected a Finder-like key command like command-leftarrow to toggle an immediate node selection closed and command-rightarrow to open it. Or some other similar key command. It seems odd when working with the keyboard to use the mouse for this. Am I missing something?
