Have instances for modpacks

Open jamierocks opened this issue 10 years ago • 2 comments

Similar to the ATLauncher, I think the FTBLauncher should also have instances, this can be useful in a number of ways for example:

  • Having a custom instance of a modpack
  • Youtubers could have a personal and youtube instance for modpacks
  • Particularly for Vanilla MC
    • Modded setups and Unmodded setups
    • Multiple different versions, with different mods
    • Modpack creators can test their modpack easier

I'm working on step one of this process which involves reorganizing the entire repository for permissions, change logs, and adding forge to packs. As we get closer I will be posting a todo list on here w/ specifics of what needs to be done and how in order to make this happen.

This system takes time to redo as it needs to integrate with a lot of tooling on the internal side.

This will most likely be towards the middle of the 1.4 series

The entire installer will need to be re-written for this, along with the mod pack edit dialog

can it also have a way to let you know when there is a update for a pack?
