Issues with payment sites
Description
I've been very surprised that this has not been fixed. I have used Fulguris for years and it has always had trouble with certain sites. But probably most inconvenient is that it fails about half the time with payment sites. It has particular trouble with popups, which many sites use for payment processors such as PayPal.
I wind up having to start all over in another browser (any other browser), adding items and checking out. If I remember first, I just start with another browser.
This is regardless of any settings I choose that I have found. No ad-blocking is enabled. It's occurred for years through multiple phones and multiple versions of Android. So I'm sure that others experience the same. That's why I expected it to eventually be fixed.
It generally works with Amazon or eBay, but fails most of the time with other merchants, for example if clicking on PayPal results in a new window (it just shows an empty about:blank).
Steps such as clearing cache or cookies which sometimes help in other browsers do not fix this.
Along with downloads failing a lot of the time (for example I can't download DuckDuckGo Assist chats), and the multiple-window nags on Google Play, this is the biggest problem I have had with the browser, which in many ways is very smartly engineered. Thank you for your efforts.
Environment
- Device: multiple (Motorola, Samsung)
- OS: all recent from the past half-decade at least
- Version: currently Android 16
- WebView: currently com.google.android.webview (142.0.7444.171/744417133)
To reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour: Try to make a payment doing online shopping. It happens regularly but not every time. It fails with PayPal for example most of the time except on eBay.
Expected behaviour
Payments work with every other browser I have tried.

Additional context
Thanks for the feedback. Downloads definitely need some work. I've not had any issues with payments for quite some time though. Like a week ago I order from a smaller artisanal shop and it worked just fine.
In any case there is little that I can do unless you have a concrete example for me to look at but even then what am I supposed to do? Buy stuff to make sure it works? Not happening 😁 Not sure how other browsers go about testing this. I would need to look into it.
My first tip is obviously to disable ad blockers but you mentioned you've been having issues without it already. You may also want to make sure you don't enable some of the legacy settings we have like Request Do Not Track, Request Data Save and leave "allow sites to open new windows" on.
