Other function may not work well since the input in fiber.pyx has been changed

Hi if this will break things it can't be directly integrated like this. Instead it should be a branch so we can see the code in the future. Please ask Isaiah what he recommends for this situation. Thanks!

Hi @ljod, Huon and I went through the PR process together earlier. This is indeed on a branch, so we will be able to edit/update as needed before integrating.
