Melon Golems (and likely other ranged mobs) continue to shoot.
Melon Golems continue to shoot where the target was before they died if the targeted entity is killed by another entity. For example, if you make multiple Melon Golems attack a zombie, the ones that don't fire the killing shot continue to shoot. This is likely due to their AI checking whether they killed the entity rather than checking if the entity is dead. I have no clue though, because I don't know how to code.
