Can I Run SkyReels-A2 on an RTX 3070 with 8GB VRAM?

Hi,

I’m excited to try out SkyReels-A2 for video generation, but I’m unsure if my hardware meets the requirements. I have an RTX 3070 with 8GB of VRAM, and I’d like to know if it’s feasible to run this model on my setup.

Since video generation tasks often demand significant VRAM, I’m concerned that 8GB might be insufficient for a large video diffusion transformer like SkyReels-A2. That said, I came across a discussion in the SkyReels-V1 repository where a user successfully ran a similar model on an RTX 4090 (24GB VRAM) by applying optimizations such as FP8 quantization and offloading to reduce VRAM usage.

Could these or similar optimizations be used with SkyReels-A2 to make it compatible with an 8GB GPU? If so, I’d appreciate any specific recommendations, such as:

Suggested settings for FP8 quantization or offloading (if supported). Adjustments like reducing resolution or frame count to lower VRAM requirements. I realize SkyReels-A2 is still in development, and future updates might improve support for lower-end hardware. For now, I’d like to understand if it’s worth attempting to run it on my RTX 3070, or if I should consider upgrading my hardware instead. Any advice on workarounds or configurations to experiment with would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time and assistance!

@MarsEverythingTech We will soon support User-Level GPU Inference on RTX 4090. Stay tuned.
